Counseling Staff

Our staff is composed of highly-trained intern and trainee therapists who provide professional mental health care to our clients. Each therapist works under the supervision of our licensed psychotherapists. Our interns have master’s level education, and have a deep understanding of the principles of growth and change. Because of our unique perspective and position in the community, we attract quality therapists who represent a variety of therapeutic approaches and life experience.

Carla Becker, MFT, is the Director of Counseling and serves as a supervisor to our staff of interns and trainees. Her work at the clinic is greatly informed by her own journey from business to the world of Psychology. She is fueled by her dedication to personal growth and development, as well as her interest in the integration of mindfulness expressive arts and somatic psycology in emotional healing and well-being. In addition to her work at the clinic, Carla has a private practice, where she works primarily with individuals and couples. She has a BA from UCLA, a Master’s degree in clinical psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles and certification as a somatic experiencing practitioner. Mary Jane Armstrong, MFT, ATR has served as a supervisor to trainees and interns at Women’s Clinic & Family Counseling Center for the past seven years. She is a registered art therapist and licensed marriage and family therapist. She received her BFA in painting at the University of Southern California and her Master’s degree in marriage and family therapy and clinical art therapy from Loyola Marymount University. She is currently in the doctoral program at the Los Angeles Institute and Society for Analytic Studies (LAISPS). Mary Jane has a private practice where she works with adults, children, adolescents, and families. Evelyn Pechter, PsyD has been a supervisor to trainee’s and interns for the past 4 years.  She received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Ryokan College . In Dr Pechter’s private practice she works with individuals and couples specializing in anxiety, relationships and life changes integrating her knowledge of cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic theories. In addition to supervising interns with individual supervision, She also supervises and encourages interns with facilitating the clinics various groups.
